Urban Institute of Contemporary Art – NEW BUILDING – CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Grand Rapids, Michigan
Proposals due by May 20
As part of an ongoing commitment to promote challenging, innovative practices in the visual arts, UICA is seeking exhibition proposals for work that addresses contemporary issues and concerns, and/or work that pushes traditional boundaries in its treatment of materials or subject.
The work being considered for this call will be among the first artwork to be displayed in UICA’s new home, a LEED certified mixed-use building on the corner Grand Rapids’ busiest intersection. A variety of exhibition opportunities are available ranging from traditional galleries, site-specific locations, areas for large suspended work, and a dedicated sound/video gallery.
In addition to the first round of exhibitions in the new building (July-August 2011), UICA is also seeking artwork for their second round of exhibitions that will be up during ArtPrize, a community-wide international competition (September-November 2011).
